Freecycle Awesomness

Got a bunch of crap and running out of room to put it? Freecycle it!

On Freecycle you can view posts for the wanting or offering of items. You can even get the posts sent to you via email.

A few short days after becoming a member of this yahoo group, I became the new owner of an almost new toddler bed. I’ve received nice dishes and cookware. Also, I have given away an infant car seat to a new mommy to be, thus providing me more space in my kids closet! It’s a great site for those of us who are always looking to save money. One mans trash is another mans treasure as they say! The whole point to this site though is to promote waste reduction, and stop adding to the landfills. What an excellent cause right?!

And it's not just me, there are lots of members. Here is a little story from one of the members...

"I put a post in Dec that I needed a Christmas tree for a needy family. I had 3 offers within minutes and even had decorations donated to fill the tree up. Some were very beautiful OLD ornaments. Very touching!

Also, I moved a few months ago. I just moved one apartment over so I put a lot of things on the patio between the apartments. I posted & within 2 hours it was all gone. That amazed me & helped me size down easily. The lady that picked up was excited over 20+ pair of jeans for her daughter. That's what this group is all about & instead of putting some of these things in the dumpster, it went to families that needed it." - Lavon

Here’s how you do it…

Miss California should hold her head up high

In case you hadn't heard, Miss California made a great faux pas during last Sunday night's Miss USA pageant. What did she do wrong? She told the truth. When asked whether or not she believed the legality of same sex marriages should be left up to the states, instead of spewing out one of those cookie-cutter, politically correct, no brainer answers, she actually gave her personal thoughts and opinions on the subject. Specifically, she said that she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman. And so the drama began.

The question was asked by judge Perez Hilton, an openly gay, self described "gossip queen", and he's been flaming her at every available opportunity ever since she gave her answer. He whines and curses, calling her a "dumb b*tch", and rants about how she gave the "wrong" answer. If he asked her how she felt about something and she answered with her honest feelings on the subject, how can her answer be "wrong"?

Watch Perez rant on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_QhM3TK2UE

I don't have a problem with gays, but I do have a problem with people who step on others and abuse their positions in order to further their own personal agendas. Miss California lost the competition and has been plagued with bad media since simply because Perez Hilton wanted to rattle some chains and get the spotlight on himself and his personal cause. Shame on you, Perez. You are a self-centered, inconsiderate parasite and a poor representative of the gay community.

I don't think Miss California should apologize for anything. I don't even particularly agree with her answer, but instead of flaming her over it, I have a great deal of respect for her being honest even when she knew it could be detrimental to her chances of winning. But Perez isn't looking for honesty. Not if it doesn't help him further his cause. He would rather Miss California compromise her principals and lie to America. Sure, that's a Miss USA we can all be proud of; a spineless liar bent on winning no matter what principals they have to compromise. Perez has some sick views on role models.
